Xpress-Yourself 2019

Xpress-Yourself have once again enjoyed a very busy year. With our Keep Dancing classes, creative dance workshops in care homes and for the Alzheimer’s Society; Disability Resource Centre and the Women’s Institute we have certainly all been kept on our toes. We also hosted our annual tea dance, co-hosted Birmingham Settlements Annual Tea Dance, welcomed two new babies, performed at the Solihull Hospital’s Harvest Festival and how could we forget all of our elfin around and dancing at Birmingham Settlements Christmas party.

We have said hello to new team members, Anna and Lucy both of whom are an integral part of the Xpress-Yourself team. Anna has been busy delivering work in care homes and for the Alzheimer’s Society making a positive impact to the health and wellbeing of those living in the homes and living with Dementia. Lucy has taken on the reigns for Keep Dancing South Yardley and has sustained the infectious laughter that can be heard throughout the library on a Thursday morning.

Sadly this year we said goodbye to classes that were not sustainable due to low numbers, hopefully this will not be the case for all our existing classes with your continued support.

Again this year we laughed so much in classes, during workshops and our staff choreographic meet ups and it has been an absolute joy to be bringing dance into your lives. We are so proud that so many of you attend our Keep Dancing dance classes as part of your weekly routine and enjoy the exercise, dancing, laughter and friendship. We are also delighted to have the privilege delivering our workshops and being told our workshops engage people in ways that staff have never witnessed. There is something so magical about connecting with someone through dancing.

December welcomed some party dances, mince pies and a phenomenal amount raised for the Alzheimer’s Society Elf Day during Xpress YourElf which is one of our proudest achievements to date! Watch our video to find out how much we raised.

Next year our Keep Dancing Shirley class that runs 7pm-8pm on a Thursday will be moving to the Shirley Institute which we are super excited about. We hope to welcome Reanne back from her maternity leave and have grand plans for our annual tea dance and look forward to continue to get you all dancing!

Our Keep Dancing classes will restart the week commencing 6th January.

Thank You for your support in 2019 and we look forward to dancing with you in the next decade.
