ABOUT US

Faye O’Connor
Company Director at Xpress-Yourself Dance CIC

Having danced since the age of eight Faye O’Connor has always been interested in how dance has a positive effect on the way you feel and appreciated that regardless of ability dance always had a feel-good factor. When helping to teach at her local dance school, during her teens Faye would often support dancers with learning disabilities to ensure they were included with the dance class. This then sparked an interest in ensuring her practice was inclusive.

Faye went onto volunteer and work for Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company whilst studying A BTEC in Performing Arts and then a BA (HONS) Creative Expressive Therapies (Dance) at University of Derby.

Faye set up Xpress-Yourself in 2013 when Faye started to deliver dance classes to over 60’s and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity. Faye has completed Circle Dance Training, Creative Ageing Training and Later Life Postural Stability Training all of which inform her practice and Xpress-Yourself Keep Dancing classes.

Faye is also very proud to work for Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Freefall Dance Company and enjoys working with the group on a weekly basis at Birmingham Royal Ballet.
