Keep Dancing Sutton Coldfield Tea Dances 2024

Are you a resident of Sutton Coldfield looking for a fun way to get some gentle exercise? Or maybe you’re just looking to make some new friends?

We are Xpress-Yourself Dance CIC and we run weekly dance classes for older adults around Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Throughout 2024 we will be hosting a number of Tea Dances in Sutton Coldfield (please see flyer below). Our next one will be 28th June at Sutton Coldfield Methodist Church.

Thanks to generous funding from Sutton Coldfield NNS, tickets for the Tea Dance are completely free (though booking is still essential). Places are limited and tickets are on sale for our next dance in June.

The two Tea Dances we have hosted this year so far have been a tremendous success amongst our dancers. We are eager to spread the word and create a community in Sutton Coldfield of older adults who have a passion for dance and are looking to meet new people. Please see some feedback from our dancers:

“I really appreciate the funding for this event to be put on, there isnt enough of these kind of events for elderly people. It got my mother out of her house and interacting with other people, she came alive and seemed so happy and confident after the event etc it made a massive difference to her mental health”

“I really enjoyed all of it. The dancing was fun and instructive, the afternoon tea was delicious and the quiz was fun too. It was good to have a themed dance (the movies). It was really nice to meet other people as well.”

“It was really great afternoon. We learnt new Latin dances, took part in a Latin quiz, and ate a delicious afternoon tea – I think that all scores a 10!”

Additionally, there are plenty of volunteering opportunities on offer at the Tea Dances, for those who are looking to gain some experience or help out the community whilst meeting new people. We have a ‘Volunteers Wanted’ blog here.
