Ideas to keep moving during lockdown.

Today England enters its second lockdown and we are all asked to once again stay at home. Whilst the world once again feels like a different place the one thing that we can continue to do is to keep exercising to maintain our health and wellbeing. Mental health, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoarthritis are just a few conditions that can be prevented or regulated through participating in regular exercise.

We have put together a a few ideas to keep you motivated to move.

Currently you can take as much outside daily exercise as you wish and meet up with one person from another household at a social distance to do this. (5th November 2020). Walking will increase your serotonin levels, which can help to prevent depression and the traditional autumn and winter blues. Enjoy that bright Autumn sunshine and admiring the beautiful colours of all the leaves.

Enjoy the outdoors and go for a walk.

Why not consider joining an online exercise session. Many sessions will be streamed Live on Facebook and their are many videos to be found on YouTube. Their are also online classes running over Zoom which means you will be able to interact with the teacher and other people in the group and enjoy camaraderie. Our Keep Dancing From Home will be running and you can find out find out more here.

If you don’t feel confident about taking part in online classes, you don’t have the room or technology make a few adjustments to your cleaning routine.

For example you could:

  • step into lunges when vacuuming
  • balance on your toes when when cleaning your windows or mirrors
  • stretch whilst you are dusting
  • walk quickly from room to room
  • Put your favourite music on and dance whilst you complete your cleaning, it will lift your mood no end.
