Alzheimer’s Society Elf Day 2022

Xpress-Yourself Dance CIC Keep Dancing classes have once again supported the Alzheimer’s Society Elf Day campaign with Xpress-YourElf. All Keep Dancing dance classes were invited to take part to dress in their best elfit and help us raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society for their last Keep Dancing class of the year before Christmas.

As always the elfits were impressive and everyone would not have looked out of place if there were in Santa’s workshop in the Northpole. The fancy dress element encourages everyone to have fun and release their inhabitations. Keep Dancing Quinton certainly had an elf on the shelf feel about them when sitting on the stage.

‘It was such fun letting out our inner elf’

Tina Hackett

Whilst the Alzheimer’s Society Elf Day is about raising awareness of dementia and fundraising to support the work of the Alzheimer’s Society it is also about brining together our Keep Dancing community to have fun and enjoy some festive merriment. Over the last several years of running Xpress-YourElf our participants have enjoyed the classes dressed as elves and the shared togetherness it brings with all our Keep Dancing classes across the West Midlands.

It brings people together, promotes a sense of community and provides an opportunity for people to share their stories of how dementia might have affected them in a supported environment. It is most definitely a highlight on the Xpress-Yourself calendar and great way to enjoy the last Keep Dancing class of the year. This year our Elves learnt a tap dance inspired routine to What Christmas means to me.

Whilst Christmas may mean many different things to different people, having fun, community and charity certainly are what Christmas means to Xpress-Yourself Dance CIC. Find out about our previous Alzheimer’s Society Elf Day fundraising campaigns here.
