Xpress-Yourself were approached to demonstrate a dance at the Ageing Well in Birmingham on the 24th May at Birmingham City Football Club. All of our Keep Dancing dancers were invited along and these are the dancers came along.
Ageing Well in Birmingham was an event run by Birmingham City Council in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to promote engagement about the development of a new Birmingham Ageing Well Strategy.
The Ageing Well event had two main aims, which were:
*To provide citizens with the opportunity to hear about the work currently taking place in relation to adult social care and health;
*To provide citizens with the opportunity to feedback experiences as well as understanding your views in relation to adult social care and health services.
The event was such a fantastic event full of services representing Adult Social Care and really took on board the views of older people and professionals to improve the quality of adult social care in Birmingham.
Xpress-Yourself danced a Bollywood and Charleston inspired routines both of which were very well received and one audience member, said
‘You brought Bollywood and Hollywood to Birmingham. Fantastic!’

Performing for over 100 people for our dancers was quite the achievement and all dancers should be immensely proud of themselves. In fact we received such positive feedback some people even saying it was the highlight of the event!
It was a great event to find out what else is happening in Birmingham and we were all thrilled to learn how Doll Therapy benefits those living with Dementia and got to experience first hand the therapeutic qualities the doll can offer. (We didn’t want to put the baby ,((the doll)) down!
Xpress-Yourself thoroughly enjoyed our day out and are grateful for the welcoming hospitality we received!
