Disco Divas in January
Keep Dancing for Carers disco divas!
January marked the beginning of 2025, starting with a bang. In our Keep Dancing classes, we learnt a Quickstep and a Disco Dance! Our dancers really got down and boogied to start the year right!
Tappers are Tapping in February
Keep Dancing Aldridge terrific tappers!
In February, we carried on our disco dancing but also integrated a terrific tap routine to ‘That Man’ choreographed by our wonderful Faye Hadley. Tap dancing is a firm favourite amongst our dancers, and we love to see our dancers in their fabulous tap shoes.
Beautiful Bollywood dancing in March

In March we visited one of our fabulous cultural dances, Bollywood! Bollywood is celebrated for its vibrant energy and expressive movements, learning classical Indian folk moves was a huge highlight in March.
Super Swing dancing in April

In April we did a fabulous Swing Dance, swing dance is a nod to the early 20th century when jazz music became extremely popular. A Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing and Balboa are all common swing dances.

VE Day Celebrations in May
In May, our lovely Marston Green Dancers celebrated VE Day in their Keep Dancing class. Many of our dancers chose to wear red, white, and blue to commemorate when Germany surrendered to the Allies in WW2.
Highbury Hall Tea Dance in May
On 20th May 2025 we hosted our first Highbury Hall Tea Dance, and what a success it was!

“We had a lovely afternoon at Highbury Hall. It was really well organised – the tour was so informative and the guide incredibly knowledgeable. The dance class was full of well-thought-out. dances suitable for everyone, which we really enjoyed. This was followed by a gorgeous cream tea – everything was laid out so beautifully. Thank you Faye, for organising, and a big thank you to the Highbury Hall staff”
Tango in June
In June, we learnt a fabulous Tango choreographed by our wonderful Faye O’Connor. Fun fact: The first Tango song was recorded in Buenos Aires in 1902.
Forward Carers Event in June 2025
On Monday 9th of June 2025, our lovely volunteers went along to Forward Carers CIC Carers event 2025 at Symphony Hall in Birmingham to bang our Xpress-Yourself Dance drum 🥁 as part of carers week 2025!
Carers Week 2025 took place from Monday, 9th June – Sunday, 15th June. This year, Carers UK chose to highlight ‘Caring about Equality’, highlighting the inequalities unpaid carers face, such as social isolation, greater risk of poverty, and poor mental and physical health.

In September we gave a nod to the Black Sabbath ballet in Birmingham with our sensational ballet routine to Orchid
Moor Pool Hall Heritage Day in September
On Sunday, 14th September, and our Pink Ladies did us proud, representing us on the stall once again. Moor Pool Hall is not only the home of Keep Dancing Harborne but was also the host venue for our Keep Dancing for the Commonwealth Project in 2022.
The festival celebrates the unique heritage, architecture, and vibrant community spirit of the Moor Pool Estate, one of Birmingham’s “best-kept architectural secrets”. This year marked 10 years of community ownership and will focus on the Heritage Open Days theme of “Architecture.” The festival is part of Birmingham’s Heritage Week, which is part of Heritage Open Days across the nation.

Paso Doble stole the show in November, Paso Doble is the best dance for a dancer to work on their timing and rhythm.
Magical Musical theatre in November
Keep Dancing Sutton Coldfield are Hat-tastic
In November our amazing dancers learnt a musical theatre routine to there’s No Business Like Show Business. We also added an extra element of props by dancing with hats!
Faye’s Graduation in November
This year Faye completed her MA in Dance and Movement Psychotherapy at the University of Derby, with her graduation in November, and is now accredited with the Association for Dance and Movement Psychotherapy UK (ADMP UK).
This qualification means that we are now able to offer Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) as an additional service.
We now offer one-to-one sessions for individuals when life feels overwhelming, including support around stress, grief and loss and menopause. We also provide group work and are keen to connect with schools, charities and care homes to offer tailored therapeutic support.

Together In Time Tea Dance in November
On Monday, 17th November 2025, we held our first Together in Time Tea Dance at Quinton Methodist Church. What an amazing afternoon we had filled with dancing, laughing and chatting as well as some glorious cream tea!
A huge thank you to our generous funders from Birmingham City Council and Edgbaston NNS, whose generosity has allowed our Together in Time Tea Dances to be free for our amazing dancers, their friends family and our wider community.
Our next Together in Time Tea Dance will be held on 26th January 2026 at Quinton Methodist Church 2pm-4pm,
On Friday 28th November 2025, some of our lovely Keep Dancing dancers stepped back in time and discovered Birmingham’s rich industrial heritage with a guided tour of the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter. This was a fascinating experience that captured the vital role the jewellery trade has played in shaping the city, shining a spotlight on a perfectly preserved workshop that offered a rare glimpse into working life in Birmingham’s renowned Jewellery Quarter.
A huge thanks to the Birmingham Museums Community Welcome Pass which helped to fund our lovely trip.

Partner Dance in December
In December, we had a wonderful partner dance to ‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’. This truly got us into the festive spirit!
Elf Day in December
Xpress-YourELF Day 2025 was a fabulous festive week in December, where all our Keep Dancing classes dressed up, got festive, and spread some cheer for the Alzheimer’s Society!

Christmas Party in December
What a wonderful afternoon of dancing, socialising, and singing! A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event so special.
The dances included our December warm-up, a samba to Let It Snow, a revisit of the popular line dance House of Bamboo, a ceilidh Virginia Reel to Jingle Bells, and our Christmas partner dance to The Most Wonderful Time of the Year in which there were a lot of laughs as we whirled around the floor .A festive merengue to Walking in a Winter Wonderland!
Daylight Disco in December
Our second Daylight Disco on Thursday, 18th December 2025! It truly felt like a wonderful afternoon filled with dancing, community, and fun.
In 2026 we are holding Daylight Discos on : Friday 30th January 2026 (2pm-4:30pm), Friday 27th March 2026 (2pm-4:30pm), Friday 22nd May 2026 (2pm-4:30pm), Friday 10th July 2026 (2pm-4:30pm) and Friday 25th September 2026 (2pm-4:30pm).
