As we age, it gets increasingly more important to look after our well-being to maintain a high quality of life and independence. Your physical well-being can be maintained by exercising regularly to preserve muscle mass, help balance, and improve bone density which reduces falls and injuries; a healthy diet rich in nutrients supports your immune system and helps you age well. Taking care of your mental health is equally important. Staying mentally active by trying new activities and learning new skills helps to maintain cognitive function. Managing stress through relaxation techniques such as meditation, diaphragmatic breathing and gentle yoga and stretching is a great way to support your psychological well-being. Social connections play an important part in healthy aging, participating in community activities or volunteering builds strong social relationships to stay connected and combat loneliness. By boosting well-being older adults can improve their quality of life, maintain independence, and reduce the risk of age related health issues.
Here at Xpress-Yourself CIC dance we know how important new activities and community are to boost Physical, Psychological and Social wellbeing, so we have compiled a list of groups, sessions and activities happening in Acocks Green. Take a look and choose how you will look after your wellbeing this winter!
