Keep Dancing Acocks Green – Dance Class for Older Adults
Keep Dancing Acocks Green

Each month we learn two new dance styles – from disco to line dancing, from jazz to Bollywood, there will be plenty of variety (and laughs!) so you’ll never get bored. Thanks to generous funding by The National Lottery Reaching Communities fund, the class costs just £2!

Keep Dancing classes are suitable for dancers over 50 of all abilities and experience, with no need for a partner. So whether you’re looking to touch up your foxtrot or want to start with the basics, Keep Dancing Acocks Green has it all.

Joining a Keep Dancing class has tremendous benefits for your body. As we get older, the need to look after our physical health becomes more prominent, but this doesn’t have to be a chore! Finding a form of exercise you enjoy is the best way to ensure you keep your body moving enough – and for many people this is dancing! Different styles of dance will work different bones and muscles all around your body, meaning learning various kinds of styles is an ideal way to keep on top of your physical wellbeing.

As well as exercise, the key to living a long and happy life is through community and socialisation. It has been widely documented for years that having a group of friends (or even acquaintances) you see face-to-face on a regular basis highly impacts your quality and length of life. Our dancers have formed a warm and welcoming community, eager to meet knew people.

Keep Dancing Acocks Green will strengthen your mind as well as your body. Alongside the social benefits, learning new steps each month will exercise your memory and cognitive functions, leading to a sharper mind and improved memory. Performing the dance routines will also boost your self-confidence and release endorphins, meaning you’ll leave every Keep Dancing class uplifted and energetic.

Alongside our weekly dance classes, we run events all throughout the year, including Tea Dances and Christmas Parties (some of which are completely free!). So why not come along and give it a go?
